Government decides to hold local elections on 13 May

Kathmandu Feb 7 : The government has decided to hold local elections on May 13. A minister informed that the current meeting of the Council of Ministers has fixed the date of local elections.

The Election Commission had recommended 18 May if it is to be done in one phase and Baishakh 14 and 22 A if it is to be done in two phases. However, after the ruling five-party alliance said that the election would be held in mid-June, the commission had proposed 18 May.
