Kathmandu Jan 26 : The main opposition Party CPN-UML has won one seat in the National Assembly amid the siege of the five-party alliance.
In the polls held on Wednesday after the four-year term of 19 MPs ended, UML has lost seven seats in six provinces except one.
UML currently has 24 seats in the National Assembly. But even after losing seven seats, he is sure to remain in the first party. After UML, CPN (MC) has 14 seats in the National Assembly, Congress 7, Unified Socialist 7, Janata Socialist 2 and Democratic Socialist Party 1 seat. The remaining three will be nominated by the President.
Out of them, 19 members who have completed their four-year term were elected on Wednesday. In seven states, there were 43 contestants for 19 members including seven women, three dalits, two disabled and minorities and seven other clusters.
In which Sonam Galgen Sherpa from UML won the minority quota seat in Province 1. At the same time, the coalition’s plan to sweep the UML clean in this election has also failed.
Interestingly, despite losing seven members in the National Assembly elections, the UML remains in the first party. When the CPN dissolved and the UML split, the UML was the first party with 24 members in National Assembly also.
Attempts by the Congress-led alliance to stop the UML from being the first party failed in Province 1. As a result, despite losing seven seats, the UML remains in the first party with 17 members.
Ruling alliance has been formed between the Nepali Congress, the Maoist Center, the CPN-Unified Socialist Party, the Janata Samajwadi Party and the Rastriya Janamorcha in this term election.
Out of the seven members lost by UML, Nepali Congress has won three, Maoists, Unified Socialists and Rastriya Janamorcha have won one each and Jaspa has won one member.
Agam Prasad Bantawa Rai, Kavita Bogati, Komal Wali, Chakra Prasad Snehi, Nainakala Ojha, Parashuram Meghi Gurung, Ram Lakhan Chamar and Suman Raj Pyakurel from UML Was over Despite losing seven seats, UML still has 17 members in the National Assembly.

The ruling Party Nepali Congress has added three more members, including three who have completed their four-year term. Now the Congress has 9 members in the National Assembly.
Formation of NA
After the two parties united in electoral coordination with the Maoists, the CPN had two-thirds of the members in the National Assembly. That is, the CPN formed after the unification had 47 MPs.
The 59-member National Assembly has three qoata nominated by the president as per constitutional provision.
In the quota nominated by the President, all the three MPs also from CPn members of the National Assembly.
According to the final poll results made public on Wednesday, the UML has won from the minority community in Province 1, but the five-party alliance, including the Nepali Congress, has won remains. In other words, the coalition has won 18 out of 19 seats.
His four-year term was upheld as per the Gola Pratha of 2075 BS.
