Kathmandu: The main opposition party, the CPN-UML, has decided not to form an immediate opinion on the MCC. Oli gave the reply to MCC vice Chair Fatima Sumar, who arrived at his residence in Balkot on Thursday.

Oli said that they would clear the position only after the ruling parties form a clear view on the MCC, said Rajan Bhattarai, chief of the UML’s foreign affairs department. “We are not in a hurry to make a position. “Those in the government should clear their positions first,” Bhattarai said. “The chairman is of the view that the ruling party’s position should be clear.”

A high-level delegation of MCC Vice chair Fatema Sumar and deputy Vice chair Jonathan Brooks met with Leader of the Main Opposition and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The US team arrived in Kathmandu this morning via Qatar Airways for a four-day visit to Nepal. Security has been tightened in Kathmandu for high-level visits. The MCC delegation arrived in Kathmandu amid preparations for the passage of the MCC in Parliament and protests against the MCC in the streets.

She is scheduled to meet leaders including CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and Janata Samajwadi Party’s Federal Council Chairman Baburam Bhattarai tomorrow. The meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will be held at the Prime Minister’s Office Singha Durbar tomorrow at 4 p.m.
