JSP will not join the government until the ordinance is returned

Kathmandu : The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) will not participate in the government until the party split ordinance is returned.

On the recommendation of the government, President Vidyadevi Bhandari had issued the ‘Political Parties (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2078 BS’ on 2 Bhadra. Provision has been made to split the party if it reaches 20 percent members in the parliamentary party or the central committee.

On the basis of that, the Democratic Socialist Party (LSP) led by Mahanta Thakur and the CPN (UML) split and formed the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party under the leadership of Madhav Kumar Nepal. Both the parties have been recognized by the Election Commission on Bhadra 9.

It was said that the Council of Ministers would be expanded after the recognition of the Unified Socialists party led by Nepal. However, two months after the formation of the government, the Council of Ministers has not been completed.

Now the Congress and the CPN (Maoist Center) are participating in the government, while JSP had decided to join the government a month and a half ago.

However, the party will not participate in the government until the party split ordinance is returned. JSP central member Mohammad Istiaq Rai said he would join the government only after the ordinance is withdrawn.

“It was already agreed to withdraw the ordinance. There is no question of joining the government until the ordinance is returned, ”Rai told Nepalpage.

The JSP leaders are worried that some MPs who did not get a minister in the government may get angry and the party may split again.
