Kathmandu : The coalition is preparing to make public the government’s minimum common program in a day or two.
Top leaders of the coalition have also discussed about the joint program being prepared by the task force headed by General Secretary of the Nepali Congress Purna Bahadur Khadka.
The task force’s work was briefed at a meeting of the coalition’s top leaders on Monday afternoon.
The meeting of the top leaders has almost finalized the joint common program of the coalition government. If there are some issues left to be added, we are preparing to complete them by further discussion today.
A meeting of the top leaders of the Nepali Congress, the CPN-Maoist Center and the Janata Samajwadi Party has probably agreed to make the minimum common program public today and to expand the cabinet, said Vishnu Sapkota, press expert on CPN-M Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Talks have been held between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (MC) Chairman Prachanda and JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav.
The ruling coalition has formed a task force under the coordination of Congress General Secretary Khadka to formulate a minimum common program for the government. The task force includes Minendra Rijal, Ramesh Lekhak from the Nepali Congress, Dev Prasad Gurung and Barshaman Pun from the CPN (Maoist Center), Rajendra Shrestha and Mahendra Ray Yadav from the JSP.
The top leaders have also discussed the issue of doing maximum work for the country and the people by making the work of the government more effective.
Although the government led by Nepali Congress President Deuba has been formed for a long time, the Council of Ministers has not been completed. Now the leaders have come to the conclusion that the work of the government will be speeded up by expanding the cabinet in a few days.
CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal was absent in the meeting held between the top leaders on Monday.
Leader Nepal had earlier sent Bijay Poudel as a representative to the coalition meeting if he did not attend. Top leaders of the coalition are also urging the Nepal side to join the government, but the Nepal side has not yet decided whether to join the government or not.
