Kathmandu: The government has appointed Kulman Ghising as the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority. Ghising, who was appointed as the executive director while load shedding was going on for 18 hours daily, had managed to end load shedding in the Kathmandu Valley in the first year of his tenure Of first.
Kulman has accepted a big challenge and said that he has come to lead the NEA for the second term. The opinion expressed by Ghising after taking office :
‘The government may have given me this responsibility as a ‘right man in the right place’. I must have been given the responsibility because of the way it was being managed yesterday. NEA was moving ahead in profit yesterday. It was also moving in a good direction in terms of administration and management. However, in the last one year, NEA has started moving in the opposite direction. In various ways, the management of NEA was deteriorating. According to everyone’s wishes, the government may have seen fit in this role.
I have heard many people say that they will take me to the Oil Corporation or other bodies. But, elsewhere is not my thematic area. The place I am leading is nowhere else. I believe that petroleum imports should be reduced by increasing power generation. I am not a fit person for the Oil Corporation. If the authority deteriorates, its effect will be felt everywhere. It stops economic growth, industrial growth. So it seems appropriate to give this responsibility.
The work of the next day will protect my credibility built yesterday. I have come by accepting all these challenges. I will fulfill the responsibility given by the government. The government has given me the responsibility here.
If the authority went down due to some mistake in the decision making process yesterday, it means to correct it. It is to continue the good work done by yesterday’s management and to correct any mistake.’
