MoHP’s projection of declining Covid-19 infection after July-Aug

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has projected that the number of corona virus cases will gradually decrease after July-Aug.

The ministry has forecast that more than 53,000 new infections will be added in July alone. The number is projected to decrease to 25,000 by December. According to a report submitted by Gunaraj Lohani to the Education and Health Committee of the Parliament on Thursday, 53,307 new infections will be added in July, 45,726 in August, 38,597 in September and 31,044 in August. This number is likely to decrease to 25,183 in December, Lohani said.

In the five-month period from July to December, there is a possibility of adding 193,856 new infections, according to the statement submitted by Lohani.

Of the newly infected people added during the five-month period, 38,771 will need treatment. Of them, 9,693 may need intensive care, Lohani said.

According to the Ministry of Health, 30,270 people are being treated in home isolation, 3,194 in institutional isolation, 714 in ICU and 156 in ventilator till July 4.

Similarly, the number of those who received the first dose of vaccine is 42 lakh 97 thousand 612 and the number of those who received full vaccination is 20 lakh 74 thousand.
