UML unity is again thrown into confusion

Kathmandu: Outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who was ousted from power due to the Supreme Court’s order, has blamed senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. Oli, who left his official residence in Baluwatar and reached his residence in Balkot on Wednesday, declared Nepal a’ traitor’.

Addressing the cadres in Balkot, Oli remarked that Madhav Nepal has a deadly political character. “The infiltration of various forces within our party has been like this, the weak elements of the party, the goods for sale have gone after the reactionaries, sometimes to the President to bring down the opposition to overthrow their own government, sometimes to the court,” Oli said.

Oli had called 26 lawmakers from his own party, who had signed on to make Deuba prime minister, a “selling goods”. He then said that he had no place in the party as it was led by Madhav Nepal . Oli said, “But in the case of Madhav Nepal, there is no room for self-criticism and shortcomings.” The Nepali people will not forgive a national traitor like Madhav Nepal. ‘

Oli’s remarks came as a task force comprising second-generation leaders proposed a 10-point agreement to both top leaders. On Tuesday alone, Nepal’s task force coordinator Bhim Rawal, Oli’s coordinator Subash Nemwang and member Bishnu Poudel reached Koteshwor and handed over a ten-point agreement to the leader. Chairman Oli was handed over on Monday. As second-tier leaders continue to push for consensus, President Oli’s remarks appear to be an obstacle to unity.

While Oli was criticizing Madhav Nepal in Balkot, he was holding a discussion at his residence with the newly appointed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deubas. Birodha Khatiwada, an MP close to Nepal, said that Deuba and Nepal had discussed the issue of protecting the government and the House of Representatives.
According to him, the Nepal group will give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Deuba, but the members of the task force from the Nepal side have been saying that the vote of confidence will be decided by the discussions in the party. Nepal is facing difficulties due to dual lines in its group.

Due to continuous efforts, the members of the task force who reached a ten-point agreement the day before the court’s decision are confused by the growing distance between Oli and Nepal.
