Kathmandu : A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) is being held at 11 am on Friday.
UML spokesperson Pradip Gyawali informed that two agendas will be discussed in the meeting to be held at the hall of Tulsilal Amatya Pratisthan in Balkumari.
According to him, the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the party’s official stance on the Supreme Court’s decision on the issue will be discussed in today’s meeting.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli had dissolved the House of Representatives for the second time on May 22 when he was the Prime Minister.
The Supreme Court has annulled the dissolution. The meeting of the reconstituted House of Representatives is being held on July 1’8 at 4 pm.
In the UML, the Oli faction has criticized the Supreme Court’s decision, while senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, who has signed on to make Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba the prime minister, has been welcomed by the Nepal side.
“The second agenda is the implementation of the consensus proposal prepared by the party’s dispute resolution task force,” Gyawali said.
Gyawali said that today’s meeting would not be stopped as the meeting had already been postponed at the request of the Nepal side.
Members of the Standing Committee of the Nepal side said that it would be appropriate to hold a consensus meeting on Thursday after discussions and consultations. He said that holding a meeting amid their disagreement would not help the party unity process.
Ghanshyam Bhusal, a member of the Nepal Group’s standing committee, said that it was yet to be discussed whether to participate in today’s meeting.
After the standing committee meeting, the meeting of the UML parliamentary party will be held at 3 pm at the Parliament House in Baneshwor.
