Kathmandu, June 2: The Election Commission (EC) has sought the signature of the expelled Chairman of the Janata Samajwadi Party, Mahanta Thakur, on the decision of the Central Committee officials.
On Tuesday, Thakur sent a letter to the Election Commission informing him that he had expelled another chairman, Upendra Yadav, from the party. Though Thakur sent a letter to the commission, the decision of the Central Committee officials was not signed, said commission’s spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha.
On Tuesday, Chairman Upendra Yadav handed over a letter to the Election Commission expelling another chairman Mahanta Thakur, senior leader Rajendra Mahato, leaders Laxman Lal Karna and Sarvendranath Shukla from the party. Yadav has a majority of 31 out of 51 members of the Central Executive Committee. Yadav, on the other hand, has submitted a copy of the minutes copy with the signatures of 31 executive members.
Spokesperson Shrestha said that the commission has informed both the parties to submit the details in the format as per Schedule 18 of the Rules on Political Parties 2074 BS.
