Kathmandu, June 7: The Khanal-Nepal faction has convened a standing committee meeting to discuss the proposal put forward by the Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli for party unity on Sunday.
Senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Nepal have called a meeting of the standing committee to decide how to take Oli’s proposal.
We don’t say anything right now. We will form a collective opinion about this, ‘said Bhim Rawal, a leader of Khanal –Nepal faction. ‘ We have called a meeting of the standing committee on Monday. That determines a lot. ‘
He demanded that the Khanal-Nepal group withdraw the signature of the writ petition filed in the Supreme Court demanding the appointment of Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister. In that case, Oli says he is ready to return to the committee before May 15.
Oli reiterated the same condition in a statement issued on Sunday. Khanal –Nepal faction has made it clear that the signature in favor of Deuba cannot be withdrawn.
A central member of the Khanal-Nepal faction said that Oli’s condition of withdrawing the signature could not be met even at the meeting of the Central Committee of the Khanal faction. “It is clear that unity has been taken as a ploy,” he said.
Another central member said Oli’s proposal could be accepted by accepting the court’s decision. ‘Comrades of the Standing Committee, make the final decision on this. The signature submitted to the court should not be made a condition for unity, ‘said the central member.
CPN-UML Chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday made a six-point proposal calling for party unity.
