Charted plane flew to Kathmandu carrying 140 million medical supplies provided by Spain

Kathmandu 20 May : Spain has provided health equipment worth Rs. 140 million to Nepal for the prevention and control of the corona virus epidemic.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Spain, a chartered Ivory Airlines flight from the capital city of Spain, Madrid to Kathmandu on Wednesday night flew to Kathmandu with ventilator, oxygen concentrator, PPE and other medical supplies. Nepal’s Ambassador to Spain Dawa Futi Sherpa has left for Nepal with medical supplies.

Magdi Martinez Soliman, director of the Spanish agency AECID, who flew to Nepal with the ambassador, is handing over medical supplies to the Nepalese government on Thursday.

Earlier, the embassy had written to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and the private sector chamber of commerce requesting for assistance.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Pradip Kumar Gyawali had a telephone conversation with Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez Lay on Wednesday. He thanked the Spanish government for providing healthcare to Nepal. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between two ministers discussed issues of mutual interest and cooperation.
