RC Poudel is released; Deuba telephoned PM Oli demanding Poudel’s liberation

Kathmandu, December 2 :

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel has been released from the control of Nepal Police. Poudel, who had reached Tanahu to inaugurate a local bridge, was released after police arrested him.

 Poudel has reached the party office in Damauli along with his cadres, after his release. Leaders have now gathered at the NC Tanahu district office to decide on a scheme for the incident.

Police had arrested 12 Congress leaders and teams, including senior leader Poudel, amid tensions in Tanahu.

Police have also arrested six CPN (Maoist) cadres.

Earlier, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba had issued a statement warning a nationwide protest if senior leader Poudel along with his team was not released immediately.

Chairman Deuba had also telephoned Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli demanding Poudel’s release.
