Balewa, Dec 16
The Baglung chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has demanded the reinstatement of the journalists sacked from the job in the pretext of Covid-19 and to provide them salary regularly. The FNJ showed concern why journalists were expelled from media houses in the pretext of Covid-19 and they were not paid.
Approving the 10-point proposal at the 12th annual general assembly of FNJ, Baglung, it said the salary of working journalists should not be discontinued in any pretext. The Baglung chapter called all media to implement Working Journalist Act, adding that the FNJ would monitor the implementation of Working Journalist Act. The media houses are further asked to provide information of their offices by fully implementing the right to information. Professional safety including capacity building of journalists is equally important.
A press release issued by Secretary of the FNJ Baglung chapter, Ram Bahadur Thapa reads that the local, provincial and federal governments should distribute advertisement to media in a proportional manner and make the advertisement policy effective.
