16 Days of Activism against GBV: Cases of GBV continue to rise in Kanchanpur

The cases of gender-based violence (GBV) have been on the rise in Kanchanpur district although the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is being launched in the district, according to the District Police Office, Kanchapur district.

DSP Amar Bahadur Thapa shared that altogether 8 cases of GBV were reported to the police since the launch of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence launched on November 25. DSP Thapa said, “We are coordinating efforts with the stakeholder agencies to make this activism a success.

We have received 137 complaints from women since the launch of this activism.” Due to COVID-19 and its adverse impact to employment sector, cases of violence were growing, he opined. He shared that due to the misuse of social networking site, more and more cases of GBV were also spiking lately.
