Renewable energy schemes in priority: Minister Pun

Minister for Energy, Hydropower and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun has said the government had attached high priority to the programmes on renewable energy in order to ensure people’s access to modern energy.

Also the Chair of Alternative Energy Development Committee, Minister Pun said it in the message of best wishes he gave on the occasion of 24th anniversary of Alternative Energy Promotion Centre on Tuesday. He mentioned that efforts were intensified to augment the national capacity for the promotion of community and institutional level schemes.

Minister Pun took pride in the success the Centre achieved on minigrid, technology on renewable energy of high capacity and power fusion which, he claimed, as exemplary on energy development. “For the promotion and expansion of renewable energy, strong coordination and cooperation of all three governments with development partners, private sectors, NGO, community and consumers is imperative.” Meanwhile, Ministry Secretary Dinesh Ghimire said federal government has a key role in further increasing renewable energy at a time when it is essential to guarantee universal access to fair, reliable and beneficial energy to all.

Sustainable development of renewable energy could boost Centre’s national and international image, said Centre’s Executive Director Madhusudhan Adhikari.
