Nepal to ease restriction despite increasing record of new active COVID cases

Kathmandu, September 16:

The government has decided to resume long-distance public transport from tomorrow on wards.

However, transport related businessmen have said that necessary preparations have not been made for this action. Earlier, the government had taken a sudden decision on easing restriction of on 5th of Ashoj .

Saroj Sitaula, general secretary of the National Federation of Nepali Transport Entrepreneurs, has said that the vehicles that had been stuck for six months could not be driven without maintenances. It is expected to be acknowledged, indeed.

He has said that preparations have not been made so far, as tickets for long-distance bus destinations should be opened from today. The government has specified that health standards and physical distance must be maintained while operating public transport.

According to the businessman, there is confusion as there is no consensus and clear framework between the government and the transport businessmen.

According to Sitaula, general secretary of the National Federation of Nepali Transport Entrepreneurs, they will be able to drive long distances only from 5th of Ashoj if they start preparations from today.
