Nepal Chamber demands extension of tax payment deadline

Kathmandu, September 6:

Nepal Chamber of Commerce has demanded the government to extend the deadline for paying taxes and duties after this lock down. The chairman of the organization(Chamber), Rajesh Kaji Shrestha has urged the government to extend ban for 2 months, since most of the districts, including the Kathmandu Valley, are still totally closed.

In a letter to the Revenue Secretary, Chamber Chairman Rajesh Kaji Shrestha has said that there are no entrepreneurs in the state who are able to file revenue at present.

Chairman Shrestha has requested for the extension of the time period as it would take time to prepare all the tax related documents. He further adds, there is a austere injunction on lock down now a days.The chamber has entreated the government to extend the injunction for at least two months from the date of opening.

 Chairman Shrestha has said that nobody can pay taxes these days. He has said the private sectors were always ready to pay revenue to the government but now due to practical difficulties during the epidemic they are unable to pay the tax conveniently.

He has urged for the extension of the time for at least 2 months after this lock down.
