NC regrets over Pulchowk clash

Kathmandu, Sept 4

The Nepali Congress parliamentary party has expressed regrets over the incident of violent clash that occurred at Pulchowk on Thursday between the locals and the police on the topic of pulling the chariot of the Rato Machchhindranath deity.

The chief whip of the party, Bal Krishna Khand, stated in a press release today that the sad incident happened due to the lack of the required coordination among all the sides concerned including the administration, the festival organisers and the local levels.

He said there should have been proper coordination in matter of conducting important traditional festival like the Rato Machchhindranath jatra.

The Nepali Congress parliamentary party has urged all sides concerned to seek an outlet through talks and dialogue for continuing the Rato Machchhindranath chariot procession ritual by adopting the highest level of precaution and maintaining physical distance in view of the risk of coronavirus.
