NCP settles party’s internal disputes

Kathmandu , September 11:

NCP standing committee meeting held this afternoon has unanimously endorsed the proposal submitted by a six-member task force to settle the disputes seen in the NCP. Two chairmen, PM KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal had slightly amended the proposal yesterday including NCP senior leader, Madhav Kumar Nepal’s suggestions, and tabled it for the endorsement from the standing committee meeting today.

The meeting was held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar. The NCP Standing Committee meeting, which started on 24 June 2020 had been repeatedly postponed, concluded today. After the internal dispute of the party intensified Oli and Prachanda had formed a six-member dispute resolution task force under the coordination of General Secretary Bishnu Poudel to resolve disputes within the party. Standing Committee members Shanker Pokhrel, Surendra Pandey, Bhim Rawal, Janardan Sharma, and Pampha Bhusal were the members of the taskforce formed on 14 August 2020.

The proposal was unanimously endorsed by today’s meeting. The division of work between the two chairmen has been clearly stated and they will handle their respective responsibilities today onward.

It has also been agreed that from today onward the mainstream political leaders including organized and primary members will have to maintain their discipline and no longer express their dissatisfaction and resentment publicly and won’t make unnecessarily post in social media as well.

The CPN members and other political leaders had been expressing their frustration and disagreement against the party and the leadership through social media.

With this meeting, the controversy surfaced in the CPN has come to an end.
