Kathmandu Valley reports highest single-day spike of 216 COVID-19 cases, reaches 31,117

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: The Kathmandu Valley has reported the highest single-day spike of 216 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) shared that as many as 216 more people were diagnosed with this viral infection in the past 24 hours.

According to ministry of health Of the newly-confirmed cases, 160 are from Kathmandu district alone. Lalitpur district reported six cases while Bhaktapur district witnessed 50 cases.

The capital city has constantly seen a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in recent days. As per the data released by the MoHP, as many as 1,302 people tested positive for this disease in this week itself. It was on Wednesday that the Valley reported 159 cases, the least number in a day this week.

The Valley has reported a total of 2,521 cases since August 1.
