SP expels Sarita Giri from party and Parliament

Kathmandu , July 7:

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has expelled its lawmaker Sarita Giri from both the party and the Parliament.

The task force led by party general secretary Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has endorsed that Giri be removed from the parliament and the party’s membership. According to Mohammad Istiaq Rai, a member of the task force, it was recommended to remove Giri from the party and the parliamentary seat as she did not follow the instructions and whip of the party parliamentary party

A meeting of the party’s office bearers on Tuesday ejected lawmaker Giri on the commendation of the task force, which had acclaimed to dismiss her from the post of lawmaker as well as from the party membership.

She has been alleged for violating the party whip on the Constitution amendment bill brought to implement the revised map of Nepal.

The party will now send a letter to the Election Commission informing the party’s move.
