Motorable bridge over Roshi River brings cheers to locals

Banepa, July 5

Locals in and around Roshi Khola area of Kavrepalanchowk district have been elated after a motorable bridge over the Roshi River, one of the tributaries to the Sunkoshi River, came into operation recently. With the completion and operation of this infrastructure, vehicles have begun plying the road here and the locals could easily commute while their local produces find market. Ganesh Prasad Neupane, a local farmer, shared that now he need not worry about the vegetables going to waste for the vehicles begin to reach his own farmland to collect them before taking to market. The remaining construction work of the bridge was carried out during the lockdown. As a result, the bridge was ready before the monsoon entered the country and the swollen Roshi River posed a risk and inconvenience to the locals to commute and do trading. Neupane added that the construction of the road was long overdue and it was finally carried out before this monsoon. “It’s been nearly a decade we had been waiting for the bridge to be built. And it has been finally built,” he gushed. The bridge connects Thansingbesi of Roshi Rural Municipality-7 in Kavrepalanchowk to Kharibot of Namobuddha Municipality-6 in the same district. The bridge was built by the government with the grant assistance of the government of Japan. It was built at the cost of Rs 150 million. It has cemented the gap in connectivity for the people residing in Thansinghbesi, Sipali, Mahadevtaar, Shikhar Ambote, Khahare Pangu among other remote places in the district.
