Disaster at Barhabise and Bhotekoshi

Huge loss of life and property

Kathmandu , July 9:

Landslides and floods have caused massive loss of life and property in Barhabise and Bhotekoshi of Sindhupalchowk district.

In his devastating landslide, Nikesh Basnet, 23, and his 3-year-old daughter Niuna Basnet have died. Also, four people have been rescued from the flood of Yalmo River in Jambu Barhabise Municipality. These injured people have been brought to Kathmandu for treatment.

 Shubhesh Tamang and Savita Basnet are rescued from Kailash Air helicopter .Similarly, Phurba Tamang and a 10-day-old baby are rescued from Mountain Air helicopter. They are brought to Hems Hospital and Kailash Hospital in Kathmandu for the treatment.

According to the village municipality two people have been killed and 18 others are missing in the landslides.

 Meanwhile, all those who are missing in the floods are already identified. The identities of 14 people from Jambu and four from Bhotekoshi have been revealed.

According to DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of the District Police Office, Nimadorje Lama, his daughter-in-law Manju, grandchildren Sapal aged 6, and Pasang, aged 9, of Bhotekoshi have gone missing. Similarly, other people who are missing include Bhim Bahadur Waiwa, Chinimaya Waiwa, Lilamaya Waiwa, Pasangdolma Waiwa, Nimadolma Waiwa, Laxman Waiwa, Sunmaya Waiwa, Janak Bahadur Waiwa, Savina Tamang, Himesh Sharma, Akash Tamang, Akash KC, Tok Bahadur Tamang, Yukta Kumar Tamang, Suvesh Tamang And Salina Tamang.

Their search is proceeding. The bodies of two people who have died in a landslide is found.The deceased have been recognized as Nikesh Basnet, 23, and his 3-year-old daughter.
