COVID-19: Infected cases reach 1700 plus in Karnali

The number of coronavirus cases in Karnali State has gone up with dozens of new cases in the recent days. However, the people seem less scared of the virus as compared to the past.

Likewise, the lockdown order imposed to contain the spread of the virus is less effective in the districts of Karnali State resulting in increased number of new cases of coronavirus infection. On Wednesday, 24 people in the State tested positive for the virus while the number was 27 on Tuesday.

A member of the Karnali State Assembly was also tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. With this, the number of infected individuals in Karnali reached 714, according to Dr Laxmi Narayan Tiwari, Chief of Health Service Division of Ministry of Social Development of the State. Director of Karnali State Hospital in Surkhet, Dr Dambar Khadka, said that the virus has spread at the community level due to carelessness of the people.

Recently, the virus is seen at community level as well beside to those India returnee migrant workers, he added. People of all sectors should apply maximum precautions against this situation, he cautioned.
