Butwal’s slaughterhouse to be upgraded

Kathmandu July 15:

An unfinished abattoir based in Butwal is to be completed and be operated as the meat production and processing industry of international standard.

The construction of the slaughterhouse had begun a decade ago and to date, it reports some progress on infrastructure development. It is based in Ramnagar of Butwal sub-metropolis-10. It falls under the projects of priority of the Butwal sub-metropolis.

It has been decided to upgrade it as the advanced slaughterhouse of an international standard stretching to around three bigha of land. The readied structures are not enough to meet the criteria of the advanced facility and the proposed structure is to be upgraded as per new criteria.

A contract has been signed to complete it at a cost of Rs 221 million and the deadline for the project is 18 months since the beginning of new construction works. State 5 Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel laid the foundation stone for the slaughter house amidst a programme here today. —
