2 dead, 18 missing after heavy rainfall in Bahrabise

Kathmandu, July 9:

Floods following heavy rainfall since Wednesday night have claimed two lives at Jambu in Bahrabise municipality in Sindhupalchowk district. Officials said 18 persons are missing in the landslides. 

According to Mayor Nimphunjo Sherpa of Bahrabise Municipality, flooding in Khagdal and Aandhikhola rivers swept away bridges and roads, causing difficulties for human mobility. The security personnel are struggling to reach the affected places as the roads have collapsed due to the flooding and landslides at different points, officials said.

Likewise, the swollen Bhotekoshi river has damaged the Bahrabise-Tatopani road section of Araniko Highway at different places.

The incessant rainfall has caused a huge damage in different areas in Tatopani in the district. It is reported that the flood swept away 15 houses.

Superintendent of Police of Sindhupalchowk Prajwal Maharjan said that the security teams are reaching the site.
