104 households displaced after landslide, land depression

Kathmandu 23July : As many as 104 households have been displaced after landslide at Silichong Rural Municipality-1 of Sankhuwasabha. Chief District Officer, Jivan Prasad Acharya, informed that 104 families from different villages including Chepchewa were posed to high risk of landslide in the district.

According to RSS with this, they have been shifted safer locations. The huge landslide occurred on Asar 28 had buried nine houses after which 11 persons have been still missing. With the major landslide, the neighbouring villages as Sisuwa and Besinda have developed big cracks and land depression. Fifty-seven households displaced from Besinda have been shifted to Chintre hill and provided temporary shelter. Similarly, 29 households displaced from Sisuwa have been rehabilitated at Budhabare bazaar, and 18 houses from Chepchewa to Paukhamtar.

Nepal Army persons have been constructing temporary huts for those leaving Besinda village after landslide. Four persons were rescued alive in the Besinda landslide, CDO Acharya added. A team of 60 persons deployed for rescue from district headquarters has returned recently. The security team did not find anyone missing since the landslide even after eight days of the disaster. However, local, people’s representatives and police persons have continued search for the missing ones. Meanwhile, the State-1 government has already supplied relief package consisting of daily essentials to the disaster survivors.
