Waling Municipality in the district has distributed 100 bee hives for commercial beekeeping in the municipality. According to municipality official Keshar Bahadur Thapa, they selected four groups and provided the hives in 50 per cent subsided grants. Mayor Dilip Prasad Khand shared that they would continue the bid next year as well after evaluating its success and attraction of the farmers. Khand added that the municipality had studied the need of appropriate place having suitable environment for beekeeping. The programme was launched finding the appropriate place, according to him. “If the scheme becomes success, the area will be self-reliant on honey production,” he hoped.
