Kathmandu: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khan has said that it is the responsibility of the government to move the MCC agreement forward.

Talking to media persons in Janakpur on Tuesday, Home Minister Khan said that the MCC agreement was started during the previous government and it was the responsibility of the government to move the agreement forward. He also said that the proposal of MCC was put forward by the Government of Nepal for the development of the country.

He said, “The MCC has moved forward under the previous government. It is the Government of Nepal that has put forward the MCC proposal for the development of Nepal. An agreement was reached between the Government of Nepal and the MCC project many years ago. It is the government’s responsibility to move that agreement forward. ”

Home Minister Khan clarified that the MCC project was not a loan but an unconditional grant. He said the MCC project came after the US government accepted the government’s proposal for electrification and road construction in Nepal.

“There must be some confusion about the MCC,” he said. The US government is running a project related to poverty alleviation and employment. Under this terms, the Government of Nepal has proposed electrification and electrification for the establishment of transmission and construction of roads. That is what they have accepted. This is an unconditional grant. The project of MCC is not in loan, it is in grant. ‘

He said that discussions were underway among the political parties regarding the passage of the MCC by the parliament, adding that conclusions would be drawn from the discussions and they would move forward. He said, “Discussions are going on between the parties.” Discussions lead to conclusions and move forward. ‘
