Vaccines received 112.6M : Vaccines used 87,70,664

Kathmandu : In seven months, Nepal has received 1,26,68,230 doses of vaccine. Out of which, 87 lakh 70 thousand 664 doses of vaccine have been used, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the statistics of the ministry, 38 lakh 97 thousand five hundred and 77 doses of vaccine should be left. However, Upendra Dhungana, head of procurement at the management division of the ministry, said that there was a stock of around 2.4 million vaccines in the stores of the union and the provinces but he was not sure how much dose was left for the district and local level wards.

The government, which aims to vaccinate 22 million people against coronavirus, has not been able to provide enough vaccines. The ministry says it has the capacity to vaccinate 600,000 people daily. However, only 63,963 people have been vaccinated in 24 days.
The AstraZeneca vaccine expires this August. On Saturday alone, Japan provided 208,060 doses of AstraZeneca through the Covax facility. Not all have already been used. There is a problem in storage when the vaccine is piled up. It is estimated that a large amount of vaccine has been wasted due to lack of coordination between the local level and the federation. However, officials say there is no record of how much vaccine was wasted.
