EX-maoist MPs seeking reinstatement case is in the bench of Judge Karki

Kathmandu : A writ petition filed by four ex-Maoist leaders in the Supreme Court seeking reinstatement in the parliament is being heard on Thursday.

The case of the four leaders has been fixed in the bench of Judge Deepak Kumar Karki.

Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lekhraj Bhatt, Prabhu Sah and Gauri Shankar Chaudhary had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking reinstatement of the Post of MP.

They claimed that they had not left the party and in a statement issued by the Election Commission on July 8, they said that they was a member of the CPN (MC) Central Committee.

They left the CPN (MC) and joined the CPN-UML after the Supreme Court’s verdict on March 8. The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had made them as ministers, and nominated them member of CPN-UML central committee.

After that, the Maoist center had taken action against them on April 7, saying that they were involved in the politics of other parties contrary to the party’s constitution.

Bhatt was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Kailali Constituency No. 4, Rayamajhi Arghakhanchi, Sah Rautahat-3 and Chaudhary Kailali-3.
