Meeting between Prime Minister Deuba and CPN (MC) Chairman Prachanda

Kathmandu : A meeting has been held between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman Prachanda of the Maoist Center.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

Though it was said that a meeting of the ruling coalition would be held in the morning, only Deuba and Prachanda met. After the meeting, Prime Minister Deuba left for Singha Durbar.

A meeting of the ruling coalition on Wednesday decided to expand the cabinet as soon as possible and give the responsibility of deciding the ministers to the top leaders.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was appointed the prime minister on July 13, has not been able to expand the cabinet yet.

At present, the government has only two ministers each from the Congress and the Maoist Center and one Minister of State. Now, the Prime Minister is preparing to expand the Council of Ministers.

In Wednesday’s meeting, Rastriya Janamorcha and CPN-UML’s Madhav Nepal faction said they would not participate in the government.
