Kathmandu : Infected mutants in the delta variant of the corona virus have been found again in Nepal. According to the Ministry of Health, mutations in the Delta variant were found in three of the 47 samples tested. This mutated variant is called ‘Delta Plus’, which was also found earlier.
The ministry had collected 47 samples of different age groups from different parts of the country from mid-June to mid-July and carried out gene sequencing in a laboratory in New Delhi with the help and coordination of the World Health Organization. In all of them, a ‘delta variant’ was found, and in three, a mutation with a mutation called K417N was found, dubbed A.Y1, the ministry said.
In Nepal, Alpha (B.1.1.7) and Delta (B.1.617.2) variants and Kappa variant (B.1.617.1) have been confirmed as variants of interest, the ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday. Earlier, while testing 48 samples in Nepal, Delta Plus was confirmed in nine of them.
‘These variants have been found in various studies to be more contagious and affect people of all age groups. Therefore, in the face of increasing risk of infection, the Ministry of Health urges all concerned to adhere to public health standards in order to play an effective role in preventing and controlling the infection, and to prepare for the challenging situation of a possible third wave, ”the statement said.
Coronavirus infection has not yet subsided. The infection rate has been hovering around 20-22 percent for a month since the high point of the second wave reached 50.5 percent. According to the Ministry of Health, the infection rate had reached 16 percent daily in the second wave. On July 10, the daily infection rate was 16 percent. However, it reached 22 percent on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, the infection was confirmed in 22 percent of those tested on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours, samples of 17,518 people have been tested and 3,899 people have been confirmed infected. Meanwhile, 20 people have died.

The highest number of infections were reported in 738 people in the age group of 21-30 years and 643 people in the age group of 31-40 years.
