Why UML wait for the exit of power to return Jestha 2 ?

Kathmandu: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli announced at a meeting on Monday that the party has returned to the status quo.
Earlier, the Madhav Nepal faction had demanded the return of the party on Jestha 2 and a meeting of the party’s tenth central committee. However, Chairman Oli announced that the party would return on Jestha 2, when the UML was ousted from power. Twenty-two UML MPs voted for the opposition coalition government. Only the next day, the UML announced its return on Jesths 2. Those who demanded this have not been able to return. The nine meetings of the Central Committee elected from the Ninth General Convention were held till Jestha 2, 2075 BS before the unification with the CPN (MC).

An UML leader said that the four special meetings had brought the distance between Chairman Oli and Madhav Jhalanath’s group to a point where they could not meet.
Spokesperson Pradip Kumar Gyawali said that the meeting was called the 10th on the basis of the 10-point agreement reached on July 11. According to spokesperson Gyawali, the current meeting has been taken as a continuous series after Jestha 2, 2075 BS. The ninth meeting was held on Jeshtha 2 and 3, 2075 BS. We have named this meeting as the tenth meeting, ”said spokesperson Gyawali.“ Implementation of the 10-point agreement has already started. The meeting has approved the 10-point unity proposal of the task force.

A meeting of the standing committee on Saturday also approved the 10-point proposal. Though the meeting was called after Jeshtha 2,2075 BS including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and his faction central member was not present.

Central member Sher Bahadur Tamang clarified that the meeting was called the 10th meeting considering the spirit of the 10-point proposal of the task force formed to resolve the party’s dispute.
He informed that the so-called meeting of the Central Committee held after Phagun 23, 2077 has been turned into a ‘special meeting’. “In the meantime, the meeting turned into a special meeting,” he said. He informed that the meeting from Phagu 23 has been turned into a special meeting and the decisions of those meetings have been recognized.

Central member Ram Kumari Jhankri said that Oli was walking against the spirit of unity by deciding to recognize the same thing in the tenth meeting.

Tamang said that the meeting took seriously the scenario seen in the parliament during the vote of confidence and its impact on the party’s life. Stating that various problems would arise within the party, he said that party vice-chairman Bhim Bahadur Rawal had reached the stage of resigning from the post of parliamentarian and 11 people were not voting. He expressed the bitter reality that even the efforts of the task force could not bring Nepal back.
