Kathmandu : CPN-UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal has called on UML lawmakers to give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Khanal, who is undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India, said in a statement on Sunday that his vote will be for Deuba.
“Let’s give a vote of confidence to the Deuba government. Let’s try to make the party as unanimous as possible. Even if that doesn’t happen, let’s conduct inter-party ideological debates,” he said.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is taking a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Sunday. He was nominated by President Bidyadevi Bhandari following the Supreme Court’s order.
Khanal said that the government was formed under the leadership of Deuba, a comrade-in-arms of the democratic movement, after the Supreme Court’s decision. “This government should be a common government of all democrats, patriots, progressives and even leftists,” he said.
Khanal also said that the country would be in crisis again if the government did not get a vote of confidence.
