Kathmandu: The Covid-19 infection rate has been seen in a week after the ban was lifted and the number of deaths has also come down. Between 30 and 40 people have died daily in the past week.
After the ban was lifted, a positive rate was seen in one of the four PCR tests. In the antigen test, sometimes in 5 people, sometimes in 4 people, one person has been found infected. Even before the ban was lifted, one person tested positive for PCR in four cases and one tested positive for antigen in five cases.
Even after the injunction is relaxed, the percentage that looks positive is not much different. This is even more worrying. “But in a small country like Nepal, 20-22 percent of the total tests done every day are positive,” Dr.Sundar Mani Dixit said.
Last year, the infection rate ranged from a low of 18.6 to a high of 24.95. “It simply came to our notice then.
Dr. GD Thakur, former director of the Division of Epidemiology and Disease Control, said that covid infection has spread in the society. “The reality cannot be ascertained by doing 6,000-7,000 tests every day. Now that the ban has been lifted, it should have been widely tested in the general population, ‘he said. Dr. BC said that there should be immediate availability of vaccine as the country is at high risk of the third wave.
