Kathmandu : A three-storey house in Melamchi Bazaar has been washed away by the flood of Indrawati River in Sindhupalchowk. According to Melamchi Police Inspector Tikaram Rai, the house was saved from the floods in Melamchi and Indrawati rivers on June 20 after incessant rains.Earlier, no one’s house had collapsed in Melamchi. According to the police, all are safe as Gopal’s family lives in another room. Five people have been killed and dozens have gone missing in Helambu and Melamchi districts since June 20.
More than 400 houses have been displaced. The Area Police Office, Melamchi, has urged the residents of the river and coastal areas to remain safe as the water level in the river is rising due to incessant rains. According to Rai, the three-storey house of Mahendra Dulal alias Gopal of Melamchi-11 has collapsed due to river erosion.
