The government proved to be a failure – the former vice chancellors

Kathmandu, 19 May: The former vice-chancellors have urged the government to be serious about providing vaccines against the corona virus to the people. In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, the former vice-chancellors called on the government to be serious about vaccinating against corona. Ten former vice-chancellors have issued a statement regretting that the citizens who should have taken the second dose within eight weeks of taking the first dose of Covishield have not been vaccinated.

“Regretting the government’s inaction, the people who have not been vaccinated and those who have already received the first dose should be given the second dose within the stipulated time,” said a statement issued by the vice-chancellors. A statement from Kedar Bhakta mathema, Khagendra Bhattarai, Hira Bahadur Maharjan and Nareshman Bajracharya stated that the government has completely failed in its role of guardian of the people.

“The only way to prevent Covid-19 is to get vaccinated. But there is a lot of chaos in the use of vaccines in Nepal. Neither social justice was valued in prioritizing nor was the distribution of vaccines available to all age groups in full, ”the statement said.

The government has not been able to provide a second dose of vaccine to senior citizens over the age of 65 even 12 weeks after the first dose was given. He also said that the government has failed in its role of guardian of the people. He said that despite the priorities, social justice was not respected and no attention was paid to the distribution of vaccines to all age groups.

Former Vice-Chancellors of oldest university of Nepal, Tribhuwan Universitiy, Mahesh Kumar Upadhyay, Kedar Bhakta Mathema, Suresh Raj Sharma, Kamal Krishna Joshi, Navin Prakash Jung Shah, Kailash Nath Pyakurel, Toran Bahadur Karki, Khagendra Bhattarai, Hira Bahadur Maharjan and Nareshman Bajracharya said in a statement that the government has completely failed in its role of guardian of the people.
