Bharatpur 24 May : Renu Dahal of CPN-Maoist has won the mayorship of Chitwan-Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Dahal defeated UML candidate Vijay Subedi by more than 13,000 votes and was elected as the mayor of Bharatpur for a second term.
Maoist central Member Renu Dahal from the ruling coalition won by 12,449 votes. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Bharatpur informed.
According to the details received, Dahal got 52,030 votes while his nearest rival UML’s Subedi got 39,581 votes.
Chitrasena Adhikari of the Nepali Congress also won the deputy mayor from the ruling coalition. Adhikari got 52,803 votes while his nearest rival Himala Gurung of RPP got 30,612 votes. Himala had the support of UML. rebel candidate for the post of mayor Jagannath Poudel has received only 14,728 votes.
