Chitwan 23 May : Renu Dahal’s victory as the mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has been ensured again. With 28,195 votes remaining to be counted, Dahal, the mayoral candidate from the five-party alliance, has received 39,416 votes.
Vijay Subedi of the CPN (UML), Dahal’s closest rival, polled 30,660 votes. In Bharatpur, 1 lakh 27 thousand 839 votes have been cast and 99 thousand 644 votes have been counted so far.
Dahal, who has been leading since the counting of votes in Ward No. 4, is ahead of Subedi by 8,756 votes. Counting of votes in Bharatpur-21 and 22 is underway now. Coalition candidates are ahead in both the wards. The votes of seven wards are yet to be counted.
