Kamal Thapa quit RPP, Chair linden response ‘Unfortunate’

Hetauda Feb : Former Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa has quit his party.

Thapa, who was defeated by Rajendra Linden at the RPP general convention in November, had been claiming that the former king and Nirmal Niwas had interfered. Former President Thapa demanded that the matter should be investigated and the interference should be condemned.

RPP chairperson Linden, who initially refused to discuss the issue, met Thapa on Saturday. He also claimed that the demand raised by Thapa was being discussed and a solution would be found soon.

Thapa, on the other hand, was adamant that his demands should be addressed even before the announcement of local elections. Former president Thapa, who reached his hometown Hetauda only on Monday after gathering leaders of his party, announced his resignation from the party on Tuesday.

Talking to reporters, Thapa said, “The 31-year-old relationship with the party has been severed from today. I have split from the RPP.”

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden said it was unfortunate that the outgoing Chairman Kamal Thapa had announced his resignation from the party. he clarified that ‘the decision was taken at a time when the party was discussing the issue at the top level of the party and was trying to find a solution on his advice..
