All Local level election on Wednesday, 18 May 2022

 

Kathmandu Feb 1 : The government is going to hold local level elections on May 18, 2022. An agreement has been reached between the government and the Election Commission to hold the local elections on Wednesday, May 18 at the same time.

An agreement was reached with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and other officials of the Election Commission at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday.

After the discussion, Prime Minister Deuba said that the government would announce the date soon and urged the commission to move ahead with the preparations for the election. ‘An agreement was reached between the government and the commission to hold local elections on May 18. The Prime Minister has said that the government will announce the date of the election soon, ‘said Govinda Pariyar, Press Coordinator to the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Deuba had called the commission for discussion after agreeing to hold local elections on May 18 without amending the existing law. The term of office of local level people’s representatives is coming to an end on May 19. The date of the election has been fixed as per the legal obligation to hold the local level election before that.
