Planning to lunch Restaurant in Narayanhiti Museum premises without passing the map

Kathmandu, Jan 4 : About 10 ropanis of land inside the Narayanhiti Durbar Museum has been leased for running restaurant business. After being rented, various permanent structures are being built there but their map has not been passed.

According to Kathmandu Metropolitan City spokesperson Ishwar Man Dangol, it has been made mandatory to pass the map from the concerned local level while constructing any structure on private and government land.

However, the construction work is going on inside the Narayanhiti Museum without passing the necessary structure for the restaurant under construction and without conducting on-site survey. Sarvajna Raj Poudel, administrative officer of Metropolitancity Ward No. 1, said that no information was given about the construction of a restaurant inside the museum.

The Narayanhiti Durbar Museum and the Republic Monument Management Coordinating Committee leased the land west of the main entrance of the museum a year ago. The Narayanhiti Durbar area is spread over 754 ropanis.

According to the staff of the museum, the land was leased to a company called BPS Leasing and Management during the tenure of the then Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Patron of the Museum Yogesh Bhattarai and Secretary Yadav Prasad Koirala. The company belongs to Batas Group.
