Deuba’s proposal to Oli: Let’s remove the obstruction of Parliament, forward  MCC

Kathmandu Jan 8 :  Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has met Chairman of the Opposition CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli. And, the federal parliament has proposed removing the impediment and ratifying the Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC) agreement.

The ruling five-party coordination committee, which met only on Thursday, had urged the prime minister to hold talks with the leader of the opposition to remove the obstruction in the federal parliament. Two days later, on Saturday, Prime Minister Deuba arrived at his residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur, to meet Oli, chairman of the opposition CPN-UML.

During the meeting, Deuba urged the parliament to open the blockade and pass the MCC. In response, Oli did not address the reasons for blocking parliament. Therefore, the obstruction will remain the same.

Oli also argues that the ruling party has not formally stated about MCC. UML parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Nemwang quoted Oli as saying, “We are in opposition and we are agitating for it.” We did not have to say anything as the ruling party did not speak formally. ‘
