Covid Infection in children increased 7 times in a week

Kathmandu Jan 13 : The number of children getting infected with the new variant of Covid-19 Omicron is increasing in Nepal.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the number of infected children has increased seven-fold in the last nine days. The infection was confirmed in seven children under the age of 10 on December 7. However, the number has risen to 49 on December 15.

According to pediatricians, the main reason for the rising infection rate among children is the lack of access to vaccines.

Pediatricians estimate that a wave of Omicron can infect many children.

At present, 14 suspected children have been admitted to KantiBal Hospital while two children are corona positive. However, this number was limited to one or two suspects about 10 days ago. The suspected cases admitted to the hospital are children below 10 years of age. “The number of children with coronary heart disease is increasing day by day,” he said. Dr. According to Rayamajhi, PCR tests of 14 suspicious cases are being conducted.
Infected cases are also on the rise due to children not getting the corona vaccine. Rayamajhi has an understanding.
