Kathmandu, 17 September. An additional 4.4 million doses of Verosel vaccine purchased from China arrived in Kathmandu on Friday afternoon.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the vaccine arrived from a chartered ship of the Nepal Airlines Corporation. The government had  purchased last 6 million doses of Verosel vaccine from China.

Out of which, 1.6 million doses of vaccine have already arrived on August 4 and 5. The corporation’s widebody flight  had gone to China on Thursday night to bring the vaccine. This is the first time so many vaccines have been brought in one consignment.

Earlier, there were only two doses of vaccine in a vial. There are now five doses of the vaccine in a vial. Ministry spokesperson Dr Krishna Poudel informed that the vaccine will be distributed from next Monday. Similarly, in Himali district, all citizens above 18 years of age will be vaccinated.

When is this vaccine given?

The vaccine arrived from China will be given to the citizens within a few days. Sagar Dahal said.

According to him, the vaccines are being distributed based on the vaccination coverage rate so far. Accordingly, it is planned to vaccinate the citizens above 18 years of age in 10 Himalayan districts. According to Dahal, vaccination campaign will be conducted in Taplejung, Solukhumbu, Rasuwa, Sankhuwasabha, Mugu, Rasuwa, Jumla, Hulla, Dolpa, Bajura and Darchula districts.

Similarly, citizens above 35 years of age will be vaccinated in Kavre, Chitwan and other districts above 55 years of age.

Similarly, in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makwanpur, Ramechhap, Sarlahi and Achham, people above 40 years of age will be vaccinated, Dahal said.

” we plan to vaccinate students over the age of 18 who have missed out on vaccinations, those who are on the frontline, those who need emergency services, teachers, and people in the tourist sector,” Dahal said.
