UML demanded to correct the decision to dismiss the land commission

Kathmandu: The UML has accused the government’s decision to dissolve the Land Problem Resolution Commission of axing the fundamental rights of millions of landless and squatters, dalits and squatters.

UML spokesperson Pradip Gyawali issued a statement on Wednesday objecting to the government’s decision to dismiss the commission. Tuesday’s cabinet meeting decided to dismiss the commission.

In order to guarantee the economic equality, prosperity and social justice envisaged by the constitution of Nepal, the UML has ensured the right to food (Article 36), right to housing (Article 37), right of Dalits (Article 40) and right to social justice (Article 42). It has been mentioned that the Land Problem Resolution Commission has been formed as per the provisions of the Land Act (Eighth Amendment) to implement the policies.

The commission formed by the KP Sharma Oli-led government had signed agreements with 747 municipalities in the country in a period of 14 months. During this period, 2,47,960 Dalits and squatters and 9,22,801 unorganized settlers have filled up the details form.

The UML has said that only if the economically and socially deprived sections of the society can benefit from the fateful political change, their attachment to the change can be developed and only then can the change be meaningful. This decision confirms that the current government is not accountable to the people and does not benefit the people. “

UML has demanded to correct the decision to dismiss the commission.

“The UML condemns this decision of the government to attack the expectations and rights of the people and demands immediate rectification,” the statement said.
