Kathmandu : The Election Commission has given certificates of registration to Madhav Nepal-led CPN (Unified Socialist) and Mahanta Thakur-led Democratic Socialist Party (LSP).
Secretary of the Commission Suresh Adhikari presented certificates of party registration to CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Rajendra Prasad Pandey and Democratic Socialist Party of Nepal leader Keshav Jha.
After revolting from the CPN (UML), 56 central members and 30 parliamentarians for separate political parties have personally attended the commission and identified themselves in favor of the new party.
Former Prime Minister and senior party leader Jhala Nath Khanal identified him from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, India. Twenty-nine members of the federal parliament also identified themselves in favor of the new party.
Though the petitions of MPs Som Prasad Pandey, Mayadevi Gyawali and Sarada Bhatt were not signed, the commission reached out to the party on Wednesday for identification.
Due to the split from the CPN (UML), the party needed the support of 41 central members to get the party’s recognition out of the current 203.
Similarly, 16 central members of the Democratic Socialist Party have identified their signatures while 14 members of the federal parliament have identified their signatures, said Shrestha.
