The party registration process of Nepal and Thakur complete

Kathmandu Identification work has been completed in the Election Commission for the registration process of two separate parties led by Madhav Kumar Nepal and Mahanta Thakur.

According to the ordinance on political parties, the commission will issue a certificate of registration of new parties if 20 percent of the members of the Central Committee or the Federal Parliament are identified.

Commission spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha said that the process of party registration could be completed today if there were no technical problems.

Earlier, Nepal, which had split from the CPN-UML, had filed a CPN-Unified Socialist petition and Mahanta Thakur, who had split from the JSP, had applied to the Commission for registration of the Democratic Socialist Party (LSP).

However, officials of the Election Commission have not yet commented on the matter. The commission had given time till 2 pm today to identify them as per their request.
